October 27th 2002.
The 10th Dartmoor Devil. Storms raged over Saturday night putting a question mark over the safety of running the event.

A large gathering at the Riverside Inn at Bovey Tracey.
The sun was shining outside, but there were warnings of up to Force 11 winds for the afternoon!
Exeter Wheelers put on a smile.

Phil Burrows.
Assembling in the car park..

..getting ready for the off....
Police block the main street for riders.

Turning onto the "B" road to Chudliegh.

AtAt 9am a Police Panda car blocked of the main street to allow 97 brave souls to set off with a gusty tail wind, towards Haldon Forest.

The roads were fast, and drying out until the groups reached the lanes full of debris from the storms.

Punctures came early on for some unlucky ones. Luckily most of the trees and branches had fallen overnight, and the high hedges provided shelter in the morning.
